How To Properly Place Your Order At A Restaurant

Article written by guest writer & anonymous author, Mind Your Manners

Whether you are at a take-out restaurant or a sit-down restaurant, a casual restaurant or a fine dining restaurant, you should implement manners when you place your order wherever you are.

When ordering a meal…

  • Make eye contact with the individual you are speaking to (if you are face-to-face.)
  • DO NOT say, “Can I have…”
  • DO say, “May I have…” or “May I please have…”
  • You may also say, “I would like the…” as long as you end the statement with “please.”

It may seem trivial, but the way you place your order shows that you have respect for your server(s) and their industry.

Haha. Sad, but people need to be reminded.
