10 Things Every Redhead Hears At Some Point In Their Life

(Redhead related articles were previously submitted to another website but were not chosen for publication.)

1. “You should be a model!”

My mother mostly heard this about me when I was a child. Apparently there was a lack of redheaded baby models that she was unaware of. I never did end up becoming a model…

2. “You can’t get that hair in a bottle! I’ve tried!”

Confidence booster.

3. “My great-grandmother’s sister’s daughter/son had red hair!”

We are in our own elite club as redheads, and these people just want to connect with you over your hair. Proper response, “Wow! That’s great.”

4. “You know redheads are going extinct?”

Hmm. Guess I’ll need to start planning my exit soon.

5. “How do you have red hair? Your parents don’t.”

Thank you for your insightfulness. Red hair is a genetic trait, but your parents don’t in fact have to have red hair in order for you to.

6. “You know redheads are more likely to get skin cancer?”

What gave it away? The light, susceptible-to-sunburn skin?

7. “You know redheads are more sensitive to anesthesia and medicines?”

Yes… I know. I discovered this when I was physically trying to scratch out my corneas right before my appendectomy. They were just so itchyyy.

8. “Do you have redheaded babies?” OR “Will you have redheaded babies?”

Yes. 🙂

9. “You are not allowed to dye your hair! Ever.”

Wasn’t planning on it.

10. “Are you a natural redhead?”

Um, yes.
