The big day is here. It’s finally arrived. Whether you’re the bride, groom, groomsmen, parents or parents who have children in the wedding, this day is meaningful and important. I wrote this guideline for how to be your best on wedding day many years ago, but it is still relevant today. It’s the little details that make a wedding day nearly perfect. This will be a five part series. Today, we’ll focus on how to be the best groomsmen/ushers on wedding day.
Groomsmen/Ushers
Groomsmen play a large role on wedding day, and most of it is behind the scenes.
- Be prompt.
- Arrive at the wedding site dressed, pressed and ready to greet.
- Be positive and kind to guests. Be especially kind to the elderly guests when seating them at the ceremony.
- Make a serious effort to see the bride and wish her well.
- Be supportive of the groom and his wishes.
- Offer to do whatever needs to be done.
- Do not promote heavy drinking. You may be called on to help with guests who have overindulged.
This is by no means an extensive list, but if you keep these in mind on wedding day, you’re well on your way to being the best groomsmen. 😉
