We’ve recently tackled a larger-than-we-initially-thought project at the King household. Funny how that happens… We started building raised beds for vegetables.
Husband and I have talked about having a vegetable garden since before we got married almost four years ago. We made a small attempt at raised beds at our old house, but we didn’t have our whole heart into it. It quickly failed. We knew the second time around that if we were going to do it, we were going to do it right. By right, did I mention it also means not cheap, easy or quick? What we thought would take one weekend is proving that it will take at least two, maybe three, full weekends of work. That’s okay. We like not being able to physically stand up without a little aching. I’ll post more of that project when it’s done although through all of the back-breaking work, I wasn’t great at taking step-by-step pictures. Whoops. Here’s a preview of that in its current state.
Anyhow. When I still thought the whole raised bed project would be over this past weekend, I set out to make some veggie markers. I’ve looked all over the internet, and there are some super cute ones… but how would I tell the difference in two different types of tomatoes with just a “tomato” marker or differentiate the Georgia Rattlesnake Watermelon from the Big Bush Baby Watermelon?! Nope. I just needed to make my own. Pinterest had a lot of cute ideas, but at the end of the day, I’m putting a stick of wood into some dirt so cute but simple and effective is the goal. A variety pack of sharpies and jumbo popsicle sticks from the craft section of the store and viola! Cute veggie markers.
To recap: 5 minutes. Colorful sharpie markers. Jumbo Popsicle Sticks.
All you need for cute markers for your vegetable garden!
